About Mental Health Counseling with
Mercedes Cuevas, MA, LMHC
Mission & Vision
I love to work with individuals who are ready to move beyond the cycles that leave them feeling stuck, used, hurt, and disconnected from their true selves. Change is hard and meaningful transformation can feel both impossible and lonely.
These patterns often show up as:
• Unhealthy coping mechanisms, bad habits, or difficulty managing stress and anxiety
• Difficulty forming relationships or maintaining connections
• Self-sabotage, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts
• Low self-esteem, depression, and dissatisfaction in relationships or family life
How I can Help: Healing looks different for everyone. I integrate several therapy models to create a supportive, holistic, and flexible experience.
It's been a privilege to be supporting individuals and families across all stages of life. I’m trained in:
• Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
• Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and general CBT
• Person-Centered Therapy
I also integrate techniques from:
• Motivational Interviewing
• Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)
• Play Therapy and Art Therapy
• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Everyone Is Welcome Here
At the heart of my work is genuine connection. I believe in building trust and tailoring interventions to what resonates most deeply with you. Once we establish a foundation of stability through evidence-based techniques, I’ll help you develop practical tools to manage emotions, change your behavior, foster peace, and transform unhelpful patterns to live a more fulfilling life. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns, people of all ethnicities, gender-identities, sexual-orientation, nationality, and abilities are welcome.
I’m currently in the process of getting paneled with insurance providers, so for now I am contracted with United Health Care and self-pay only. I offer both in-person and virtual therapy sessions for healing and emotional growth, and coaching sessions for folks wanting to build confidence in parenting skills, social skills, or adaptive living skills with ADHD related issues. I also offer a sliding scale to help make care more accessible—just reach out and we can talk through what works best for you.

Serving People: Where Healing Meets Justice
There’s so much happening in our world right now, and I see how deeply it’s affecting people — especially those navigating the immigration system or facing detention. Northwest Immigrant Rights Project provide critical legal representation to immigrants in Washington State — including asylum seekers, families, and survivors of violence. If you would like to also help support free legal counsel to those in need, please show your receipt of a donation to NWIRP for a 10% Discount on your next session if using self-pay. If you are using insurance than know that 10% of all profits, go to NWIRP monthly.
